2018 Thirty Under 30: Matthew Futterman

Since graduating from the University of Delaware in 2013, Matthew has worked for the National Basketball Association. His first role with the National Basketball Association was in Content and Digital Media as a Chief Video Logger, but since then he has been promoted multiple times and now works as an Associate Manager of Referee Operations. In his current role, Matthew oversees the performance and development information of all NBA officials by analyzing the information to see how improvements can be made in processes and rules. He also provides on-site event support to the players who participate in the All-Star Game, NBA Draft, and the NBA Draft Combine. In 2017, Matthew was awarded both the 2017 Referee Operations MVP and the 2017 Referee Operations Innovator of the Year awards from a pool of over one hundred individuals. He was recently invited back to the University of Delaware to participate in a “Sports Industry Networking Panel” event and has also been accepted into the St. John’s MBA program where he plans to further his education.
