SAY HELLO TO THE DIGITAL STAR & LAMP

After celebrating a milestone 100th anniversary issue last fall, Pi Kappa Phi has released its inaugural issue of the digital Star & Lamp. The Winter 2010 issue features the artwork of Charles Clary, an young alumnus from Delta Iota chapter at Middle Tennessee State.

The new digital Star & Lamp uses the latest technology to provide an enhanced interactive experience with access to video and audio features, external links, and photo galleries. The digital format also enables readers to forward articles to friends, browse through a digital archive of past issues, and search for key words of interest. Furthermore, the new format helps the fraternity to save significantly on printing and postage costs while reducing our impact on the environment.

“The response from readers has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Managing Editor Jared Thurston, Theta Epsilon (Kansas). “People are really excited about the new technology as well as having a ‘green’ alternative.”

Still, others prefer their Star & Lamp in the traditional print format. “We realize that the digital Star & Lamp isn’t for everyone, and we certainly want our readers to receive their magazine in the format that best suits them,” said Thurston. “If you prefer to continue receiving your printed copy of the Star & Lamp, we are happy to mail your issues to you. You’ll just need to let us know.”

For those who choose a print subscription, you will continue to receive the traditional Spring and Fall issues of the Star & Lamp. Digital subscribers, however, will receive a third, exclusively digital Winter issue. You can click here to manage your subscription.
